Literal
“I, Lindsey Western, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”

I have been taking an Art Class and have been under the tutelage of Frank Hsu. He has been assigning me a series of difficult projects while taking his classes. In order, I have done a colored pencil landscape, a charcoal still life, a pastel landscape, and a Character design project.

InterpretiveThe projects all took a decent amount of time because all of them, for the most part, were done with materials I had never worked with. I never worked with Charcoal or Pastel in my years of being an artist, so it was rather difficult to complete most of the projects. Thanks to my teacher though, I think they all turned out very well.
Besides the projects I was also taking the Art class every Thursday.

AppliedTaking the art class has helped me alot in answering my EQ. It has especially helped me with my First EQ answer, which is about Having a strong traditional Arts background. Through these classes and projects that Frank has assigned me it has become most clear that mastering the basics and what not is a definate skill needed in the Art world. While doing my charcoal drawing, Frank kept telling me to redo some of the shapes because the proportions were off. It was difficult to make the picture look right. I was only drawing simple objects at that time, so I can imagine how much more of a difficult time it would be trying to draw more complex objects in the Entertainment Industry.

  1. This looks good, Lindsey. Was your art class graded? You could also turn in a transcript for that.
